During the spring the Council for the Stockholm Mälar region initiated a triple helix cluster cooperation for the maritime industry. To continue and deepen the cluster cooperation four different focus groups where formed: waterborne public transport, freight transport on water, maritime technology and finally leisure and tourism.
Susanna Hall Kihl from Vattenbussen was appointed group leader for the waterborne public transport group who held its first meeting on the 11th of September. Twenty people met and discussed the situation of today, the purpose and the background as well as the ambition forward. Despite barriers and challenges there was a clear interest and engagement for moving forward together. For instance, to clarify benefits and costs of waterborne public transport in order to provide politicians and urban planners with a clear decision basis and thereby give the industry more distinct conditions. Next meeting will be held on the 16th of October.
